Rural Experience

This is a unique opportunity to share with Sri Lankans, in places that no foreigner or tourist reaches. You will get to know firsthand how life develops in the small towns of the country. You will also have the opportunity to help with camp tasks through our Hiripitiya farm in Kurunegala

1st day. Bandaranaike International Airport - Kurunegala - Hiripitiya

(Approximate transfer time: 2 and ½ hours)

Reception at the airport by our representative and transfer of about 2 hours and 30 minutes to the accommodation in Sigiriya

On the way we will stop at Lake Kurunegala to stretch ourselves with a walk and eat a snack

Reaching this location is already a beautiful excursion in itself.

Transfer to a coconut plantation area where you will stay on a farm exclusively for you.

2nd day. Hiripitiya

This will be a relaxed way to get to know this unknown part of the country including the Srilankan, living in a totally rural environment.

It is an exceptional opportunity to learn about the life of farmers in the area, living with them.

Around the farm you can leisurely stroll among rice fields and coconut palms.

You can also go on an excursion to see the lakes where, in addition to the exuberant flora and fauna, you will see how the smiling Srilankan bathe and play among the water lilies.

From this farm / plantation you will also go to the nearest village and learn about the daily activities of the market, shops, post office and hospital ...

3rd day. Hiripitiya

We will participate in a traditional folk show.

This day we will do two different activities in the farm vicinity, we will visit an ancient Monastery in Arankele from the 6th century AD.

The transfer to Arankele will be done by bicycle through forests of incredible beauty and animal life.

In the afternoon we will see a popular and traditional community entertainment with neighbors.

It is a social act where the whole community gathers to play local musical instruments and recite small plays.

This type of act is voluntary by the neighborhood so it is subject to the availability of the same.

4th day. Hiripitiya - Sigiriya Rock - Habarana

Hiripitiya - Sigiriya : approximate transfer of 1 hour)

This huge magma rock hides the ruins of noble buildings and a breathtaking view on the top

We will pass through the Lions Gate and admire the state of conservation of the frescoes on the walls of the cave

5º giorno. Habarana - Tempio d'Oro di Dambulla - Giardino delle Spezie - Riserva di Unawatakale - Città di Kandy

(Approximate 2 hours for transfer to Kandy)

In the morning we will visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla

This complex of caves converted into a temple where inside we will encounter a rich decoration of statues and frescoes on the life of Buddha, of ancient Sinhalese kings and of Hindu Sinhalese deities still revered today with flowers, incense and oil lamps ...

On the way to Kandy we will visit a Spice Garden

On this visit we will know

about the plants and trees with which the different spices are produced and we will discover their use in cooking and in the ancient natural medicine of Ayurveda

This visit is optional and free, we will find an attached shop to which nobody is obliged to buy

Nel pomeriggio passeggero nella Riserva di Unawatakale. Questa visita è  di un’ora circa di cammino, si potranno ammirare, soprattutto, altissimi alberi e una vegetazione tropicale che stupisce a tutti. 

L’origine di questo bosco era per il diletto della Corte Reale e per fornire di combustibile (legna), le cucine del palazzo. 

Oggi giorno è  un luogo di passeggio degli abitanti di Kandy, per la sua ubicazione nel centro della città.

Transfer to Kandy, the capital of the mountains

World heritage recognized by UNESCO, Kandy is one of the most sacred places in the Buddhist world

Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhalese kings, has a lot of British influence

We will see colonial-style buildings and take advantage of a walk around the lake surrounding the Temple of the Buddha Tooth, where one of the most important relics of Buddhism is preserved: the left canine of Buddha

6th day. Kandy - Escursione in Hantana - Kandy

(Kandy - Hantana : transfer of about 20 minutes)

Trekking in Hantana (about 5 hours): we will take a walk in the mountains that surround the south of the city of Kandy surrounded by tea fields.

In Sinhalese Hantana means seven peaks and we will rise to one.

7th day. Kandy - Ramboda waterfalls - Tea factory - Nuwara Eliya

(Kandy - Nuwara Eliya : transfer of about 2 and ½ hours)

On the way to Nuwara Eliya we will stop to admire the Ramboda waterfalls and learn about tea production by visiting a factory.

We will then contemplate the British colonial style buildings of Nuwara Eliya and stroll around Lake Gregory

8th day. Nuwara Eliya - Sithulpawwa - Tissa

Nuwara Eliya - Sithulpawwa : trasfer of about 3 hours)

To get to this location we have to cross the Yala National Park.

Its location is very special because it is located on a hill where it is possible to admire the whole National Park.

In this ancient Buddhist monastery of more than 2000 years they come on pilgrimage from all over the island and it has a very special meaning for the locals.

On many occasions, we will have the opportunity to see many animals simply walking along this path.

9th day. Tissa - Galle - Unawatuna

(Tissa - Galle : trasfer of about 2 hours)

Galle is the third most important city after Colombo and Kandy.

It was a Portuguese city in the 16th century and a Dutch city in the 18th century, the British also lived in the 19th and 20th centuries.

All these colonizers left an imprint, which is why it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

10th day. Unawatuna - Colombo city Tour - Bandaranaike International Airport

(Colombo - Aeroporto : trasfer of about 1 hour)

Transfer to Colombo Capital for a retrospective visit: Independence Square, walk to Galle Face in the colonial area of the Fort of Colombo

Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport at the appointed time, where we will arrive 3 hours before the departure of the flight
