10th day. Kandy – Dambulla

11th day. Dambulla – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya – Dambulla

1st day. Colombo – Kitulgala

Reception at Colombo airport by our guide and transfer to Kitulgala, location where the classic “The bridge over the river Kwai” was shot in 1957.Possibility to practice rafting. Rest of the day repose.

2nd day. Kitulgala – Galle

In the morning we will take a little walk in the woods.

Then we will leave for Galle. This small fortified city housed Portuguese, Dutch and British, leaving an architectural legacy of great value.

3rd day. Galle – Tangalle Beach

In the morning we will discover Galle, leaving the afternoon free to enjoy one of the most heavenly and virgin beaches of the island.

Free day taking advantage of the beach and the ocean.

5th day. Tangalle – Udawalawe National Park

After breakfast we head towards the Udawalawe National Park for a safari at noon. This national park surrounds the dam that has the same name and is where the elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles and other species go to drink and bathe. You can easily see, in addition to the already mentioned, wild boars, golden jackals, Indian buffalos, different types of monkeys, eagles and a great ornithological variety.

The landscape is very similar to the African savannah.

6th day. Udawalawe – Haputalé

Transfer to Haputalé. Day dedicated to the visit of an important tea factory and the second highest waterfall in the country: Diyaluma, we will walk to get to know the surroundings of this quiet place.

7th day. Haputalé – Horton Plains – Haputalé

After breakfast we leave for the Horton Plains National Park.

This park offers the opportunity to hike up the mountain to access the famous

“end of the world” and the Baker waterfalls.

8th day. Haputalé – Nuwara Eliya – Kandy

In the morning we will contemplate the British colonial buildings of Nuwara Eliya and walk around Gregory Lake.

In the afternoon we will head to Kandy, known has the capital’s mountain.

We will visit the Temple of the tooth of Buddha, the main Buddhist religious centre and walk through the city.

Then we will see a typical traditional Kandy dance show.

9th day. Kandy – Elephant Orphanage – Botanical Garden – Kandy

Early in the morning we will head to the elephants Orphanage, created by the Government of Sri Lanka to welcome the orphaned or wounded calves encountered in the forest. It is the largest reserve of elephants in captivity in the world.

10th day. Kandy – Dambulla

Visit to the ancient site of the region, learning about the temples of the fourteenth century of Gadaladeniya, Lankatileka and Ambakka, the last entirely built in wood.

In the afternoon we head to Dambulla. On the way we will stop and visit the Spice Garden.

11th day. Dambulla – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya – Dambulla

We will visit an ancient capital of the country, Polonnaruwa (XI-XIII). We will see various monuments of architectural style of Indian influence which have been very well preserved and Buddha sculptures carved from one piece of granite.

In the afternoon we will climb to the rock of Sigiriya (V. AD) which his housed on top of the ruins of the ancient luxurious complex and is considered as one of the 8 wonders of the ancient world.

12th day. Dambulla – Negambo beach

In the morning we will ascend to the Golden Temple of Dambulla (1st century AD).

This group of caves converted over time, contains a rich decoration inside starting from the statues and frescoes of the life of Buddha, to the ancient kings of Sri Lanka and of the Hindu gods.

Then we will visit the fishing port of Negambo and its beach.
