Special Holidays to Sri Lanka in 2020

We have prepared a route with incredible safaris, emblematic monuments such as Sigiriya or the Golden Temple of Dambulla and of course including the immense tea fields. Get ready to enjoy a relaxing cup of tea by traveling by train across the mountains from Nuwara Eliya to Ella

1st day. Bandaranaike International Airport - Negombo

(Approximate transfer time: 30 minutes)

Reception at the airport by our representative and transfer of about 20 minutes to Negombo

Rest and relaxation for the rest of the day

2nd day. Negombo – Kurunegala – Safari Minneriya National Park – Sigiriya

(Negombo - Dambulla approximately : 3 hours and 30 minutes)

On the way we will stop at Lake Kurunegala to stretch ourselves with a walk and eat a snack

In the afternoon mounted on a four wheel drive, we will participate to this amusing Safari,

famous for the large herds of elephants that inhabit it.

Sometimes you can admire up to 300 elephant specimens

Location strategically located in the center of the Cultural Triangle for visits and activities in the coming days

3rd day. Sigiriya – Sigiriya Rock – rural tipical village – Sigiriya

(30 minutes approximately between the transfers)

In the morning we will go up to Sigiriya fortress

This huge magma rock hides the ruins of noble buildings and a breathtaking view on the top

We will pass through the Lions Gate and admire the state of conservation of the frescoes on the walls of the cave

Afterwards we will make an excursion starting by canoe on a lake, then with a small transfer by tuk-tuk and finally mounted on an ox cart to reach a typical rural village

4th day. Sigiriya - Dambulla Golden Temple - Spice Garden - Matale Hindu Temple – Kandy

(Dambulla - Kandy: 2 hours and a half)

In the morning we will visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla

This complex of caves converted into a temple where inside we will encounter a rich decoration of statues and frescoes on the life of Buddha, of ancient Sinhalese kings and of Hindu Sinhalese deities still revered today with flowers, incense and oil lamps ...

On the way to Kandy we will visit a Spice Garden

On this visit we will learn about the plants and trees with which the different spices are produced and we will discover their use in cooking and in the ancient natural medicine of Ayurveda

This visit is optional and free, we will find an attached shop to which nobody is obliged to buy

Then we will make a short visit to the Sri Muthumariamman Hindu Temple in Matale (1852), built for workers in tea plantations, who came from southern India

We will walk around the lake surrounding the Temple of the Tooth and visit the typical market and traditional shops of the city

5th day. Kandy - Optional; Elephant Orphanage - Real Gardens in Peradeniya - Kandy

(Kandy - Pinnawala: 1 hour and a half)

Facoltative activityIn the morning we will go to the Elephant Orphanage created by the Government of Sri Lanka to welcome the orphaned or injured puppies encountered in the forest

The Peradeniya Botanical Garden or also called Royal Garden has its origins in the 14th century.

This vast expanse of trees and plants is one of the best travel sites in Sri Lanka.

We will admire the centuries-old trees and palm trees with the strangest shapes, Ayurvedic plants and the famous collection of orchids.

This vast area of 60 hectares is a place of relaxation and recreation for the Sinhalese where they come to stroll and spend the day with family, boyfriends or friends.

Peradeniya Royal Gardens

6th day. Kandy - hike to the tea fields - Traditional Dances - Kandy city Tour

(no transfer by car)

In the early hours of the morning we will hike through the wonderful tea fields of Hanthana

Hanthana is a protected area and is part of the mountains that surround the south of the city of Kandy

You can take a walk of one, two or three hours in which you will have the opportunity to get to know the tea and rice fields, a unique feature present only in this area of the country, experiencing the flow of daily life of local residents

In Sinhala, the local language, Hantana means "seven peaks"

In the afternoon we will attend a typical dance show in Kandy

We will walk through the city and around the lake surrounding the Temple of the Tooth, we will visit the market ...

7th day. Kandy - Ramboda Waterfalls - Nuwara Eliya - train Nanu Oya to Ella

(Kandy - Nuwara Eliya : 2 hours and a half)

(Train Nanu Oya - Ella : 3 hours)

On the way to the mountain station of Nuwara Eliya (1,868 m), we will observe extensive tea plantations, we will stop at the Ramboda waterfalls

In Nuwara Eliya strolling around Lake Gregory and around the city, to get to know the buildings of British influence and the character of this town on the tops of the mountains.

Reached the station of Nanu Oya, a few minutes from Nuwara Eliya (8 km), we will board the train carriage in Ella.

8th day. Ella - Safari Yala National Park - Tissamaharagama

(Ella - Yala : 2 hours and a half)

We will participate in the Safari in the National Park mounted on a 4x4.

This huge expanse of land is divided into five blocks, which protect the habitat that goes from the bush to the lake areas near the sea.

9th day. Yala - Turtle nursery - Galle Fort - Unawatuna

(Tissa - Galle : 3 hours and a half)

We will visit a nursery for the conservation of turtles

Galle is the third most important city after Colombo and Kandy.

It was a Portuguese city in the 16th century and a Dutch city in the 18th century, the British also lived in the 19th and 20th centuries.

All these colonizers left an imprint, which is why it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

10th day. Unawatuna – Colombo – Bandaranaike International Airport

(Unawatuna - Airport : 2 hours)

If you have time, you can visit the capital Colombo and its emblematic places: Colombo Fort, Cinnamon Gardens, Galle Face, Independence Square

Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport at the appointed time, where we will arrive 3 hours before the departure of the flight
