Day 01. Airport → Kurunegala→ Anuradhapura

Arrival & Ancient Capital

Welcome to Bandaranaike International Airport! Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Sri Lanka Eden Travels. Then, you will transfer to Anuradhapura, with a refreshing stop in Kurunegala to stroll around the city lake and enjoy some refreshments. The afternoon is reserved for rest and relaxation after the long journey.

Day 02. Wilpattu Safari & Ancient Anuradhapura

Wildlife & Sacred Sites

Enjoy a morning safari in Wilpattu National Park, where you can spot leopards, elephants, wild buffalos, bears, deers, herons, ducks, and endemic birds like the jungle fowl around the park’s many small lakes. In the afternoon, visit the fascinating ancient city of Anuradhapura, dating from the (4th century BC to the 10th century AD), and witness how Sri Lankans venerate this sacred site and make offerings to the world’s oldest tree.

Day 03. Sigiriya Rock & Minneriya Safari

Day 04. Ancient Polonnaruwa & Ayurveda

Explore the ancient UNESCO World Heritage city of Polonnaruwa, dating from the (10th to 13th centuries), where you can admire impressive Buddha statues and the elegant monuments of King Parakrama. Day 05. Hot Air Balloon & Golden Temple

Enjoy an optional sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Dambulla area, offering a magical hour of views including Sigiriya Rock, Kandalama Lake, and expansive rice fields from above. Then visit the Golden Temple, dating back to the (1st century BC), nestled inside a large cave housing 153 Buddha statues. Afterward, stop at a spice garden to discover the secrets of vanilla, cocoa, cardamom, pepper, and other aromatic plants used in cooking and Ayurvedic medicine.

Day 06. Elephant Orphanage & Botanical Gardens

Begin your day with an early visit to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, the largest captive elephant reserve in the world, where injured or orphaned elephant calves are cared for. Witness the moving sight of dozens of elephants walking through village streets and bathing in the river. Then, explore the lush Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, a green paradise filled with ancient trees and diverse plants, a favorite spot for Sri Lankan families to relax and enjoy nature.

Day 07. Kitulgala Rafting & Nuwara Eliya

Embark on an adventurous rafting trip in Kitulgala, navigating through extraordinary tropical vegetation. The two-hour journey covers 7 kilometers and includes 8 exciting rapids in the very area where the classic 1957 film “The Bridge on the River Kwai” was shot. Afterwards, continue to Nuwara Eliya, where you can stroll around Lake Gregory and admire the charming British colonial architecture. Don’t miss browsing the local market stalls, which offer a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and textiles.

Day 08. Scenic Train to Ella

Mountain Railway Journey

Enjoy a romantic train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, a journey of over three hours winding through tea-covered mountains and tall forests on the historic Ceylon railway, which has been operating since 1864. Once you arrive in Ella, take a simple trek up Little Adam’s Peak, walking around tea fields to soak in the breathtaking vastness of the mountains in this spectacular part of the island.

Day 09. Ella Gap & Buduruwagala Temple

Mountain Views & Ancient Art

You can take a spectacular 3-4 hour trek either to Ella Gap or Ella Rock, both offering stunning views of the mountain range surrounding Ella. Afterward, visit Buduruwagala, an ancient (10th-century) Buddhist temple known for its seven statues of Buddha and Buddha aspirants carved directly into the rock.

Day 10. Koggala Lake Safari & Galle Fort

Enjoy a boat safari through the mangroves of Lake Koggala, visiting an island with a Buddhist temple. Learn about cinnamon harvesting and processing on “Cinnamon Island.” Afterwards, explore Galle Fort, the most beautiful walled seaside city in Sri Lanka and the best-preserved colonial historical center. It is perfect for a romantic stroll, with charming cafes, restaurants, and shops to discover.

Day 11 - 13. Hikkaduwa Beach Paradise

Day 14. Colombo City Tour & Departure

Enjoy your hotel and beach time until noon. On your way to the airport, take some time to explore Colombo’s colonial Fort area, including the historic Dutch Hospital, which dates back to 1681. You can also visit Pettah Market and the Galle Face promenade, where locals fly kites and stroll by the sea. Afterward, head to Bandaranaike International Airport. Please ensure you arrive at least 3 hours before your flight departure to allow for a smooth check-in and security process.
