VGCR COURSE
01 - 403 Yards | Par 4

The drive from the high tee behind the clubhouse invites the golfer to open the shoulders. However, placement is critical to ensure a clear shot to the green; too far left and the drive will finish in a natural hollow, too far right will bring a majestic Mara tree into direct line. The green is tightly defended by a bunker on the left and has some tough slopes to master.

02 - 473 Yards | Par 5

A possible eagle or potential double or triple bogey hole. In common with many of the great ‘road’ holes of the golfing world, the closer the drive is to the road, the better the prospects for the 2nd shot. A safer drive to the left leaves an agonizing decision of whether to play up over the large trees some 100 yards short of the green. The out of bounds is present for the entire length of the hole and the 2nd part of the fairway is very narrow. The green is steeply sloping with the front right and back left positions being the most demanding

03 - 384 Yards | Par 4

A definite decision must be made on the tee of this sharply doglegging par 4. The tighter the drive to the left, the shorter the approach. The longest can even cut the corner (guarded by an exposed rock) leaving a very short approach. It is essential to get the ball up to the green through a narrow valley guarded by a Tamarind tree on the right, but the surrounds will be forgiving for shots slightly off line. The sentinel rock behind the green is the aiming point for the middle of the green.

04 - 116 Yards | Par 3

Nicknamed ‘The Terror’, this short par 3 will test a golfer’s resolve to play a well struck short iron to a tiny, undulating green. Miss the green at your peril. Accuracy is the key and winds will make club selection tricky. The large elevated tee offers wonderful views of the Victoria Reservoir and surrounding mountains.

05 - 314 Yards | Par 4

There are three choices from the tee, a drive to the left of the central mound offers a blind approach up the length of the green; a drive to the right can offer a good view, but the green is very shallow from this direction and to over club would be disastrous. Alternatively, the long hitter can launch a drive over the mound and probably get on or very close to the green. However, the half pitch that this course of action can leave is devilishly difficult.

06 - 473 Yards | Par 4

This hole offers the most exhilarating drive on a course replete with inviting but nerve-wracking tee shots. The fairway lies some 40 meters lower than the tee. Only an accurate tee shot will allow the ideal line onto the green which is defended on the left by a large Mara tree and on the right by a bunker.

07 - 187 Yards | Par 3

An apparently straight forward par 3 whose main danger lies in the stream to the right of the green. A fade into the flag might prove the best route in. The green is split into two levels so putting is made much easier if the correct tier is found.

08 - 422 Yards | Par 4

Although apparently wide open from the tee, this long, testing par 4 will be made much easier if the drive can find the perfect spot in the fairway. The second will then need to be threaded between or over two Mara trees, to a green defended on it’s left by a bunker.

09 - 520 Yards | Par 5

This par 5 will challenge the longer players to reach the green in two shots. However, missing the green short will leave a really difficult pitch over the only bunker from under a huge Mara tree. If played in three shots, the hole tests the ability of the golfer to control the ball from 100 yards into the green. A side hill lie is almost certain for the third shot which will have to be dropped on the front edge of the green or run into the green to allow the ball to slip down the front to back slope of the putting surface.

10 - 357 Yards | Par 4

Despite being a short par 4, the drive must be well struck and accurately place among the Jak trees to give a straight forward second up to the green. The putting surface is set to the left of another Mara, whose presence may cause the second to be pulled into one of the two bunkers set into the front of the green.

11 - 534 Yards | Par 5

The drive from the high tee behind the clubhouse invites the golfer to open the shoulders. However, placement is critical to ensure a clear shot to the green; too far left and the drive will finish in a natural hollow, too far right will bring a majestic Mara tree into direct line. The green is tightly defended by a bunker on the left and has some tough slopes to master.

12 - 210 Yards | Par 3

A totally attractive par 3, played from a high tee which is always a favourite with golfers. The steep drop to the left of the green will end any hopes of a par and this will come more into play the further the flag is to the back of the green. A large tree reaches out into the approach to pluck from flight any shots hit slightly too far right.

13 - 430 Yards | Par 4

Once again an inviting downhill drive, the second shot is extremely tight as the approach is guarded by large trees on either side, and the green is protected on the right by a large Mara tree and lies only yards from a road on the left. It is always difficult to hit enough club to this green. Some wicked slopes exist on the green.

14 - 393 Yards | Par 4

The drive from the high tee behind the clubhouse invites the golfer to open the shoulders. However, placement is critical to ensure a clear shot to the green; too far left and the drive will finish in a natural hollow, too far right will bring a majestic Mara tree into direct line. The green is tightly defended by a bunker on the left and has some tough slopes to master.

15 - 553 Yards | Par 5

Direction as well as distance will shorten the carry over the reservoir for the second shot, which will need to be accurately placed between the coconut trees to set up an attractive pitch to one of the more undulating greens on the course. The view over the reservoir from here is stunning.

16 - 190 Yards | Par 3

A strong par 3 requiring a well struck long iron into a shallow green. The toughest flag positions are on the left side of the green which is dominated y a large deep bunker.

17 - 441 Yards | Par 4

The drive from the high tee behind the clubhouse invites the golfer to open the shoulders. However, placement is critical to ensure a clear shot to the green; too far left and the drive will finish in a natural hollow, too far right will bring a majestic Mara tree into direct line. The green is tightly defended by a bunker on the left and has some tough slopes to master.

18 - 545 Yards | Par 5

The finishing par 5 offers an attractive drive down into a definite valley. The hole then plays all the way up the valley, but the green is set into a shallow bowl surrounded by coconut palms to the left of the beautiful clubhouse. The judgment of any third shot into the shallow green has to be perfect if a birdie chance is to result.
