Become Indiana Jones and explore the ruins of a monastery dating back to 1 BC, trekking through a dense jungle inhabited by elephants, leopards and wild bears.

Visit an ancient ruined forest monastery that still offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the monks who once lived here.

Ritingala Monastery

Ritigala’s architecture is very similar to that of all the other forest monasteries in Pansakulikas: some unique features intrinsic to the Spartan architecture of Sri Lanka.

The mountain is about three miles long at its longest point and about two miles wide.

The dense jungle is inhabited by wild elephants, leopards and bears.

The picturesque setting and the unspoiled reserve make photography ideal.
