The route of the elephants

We will admire herds of elephants in their habitat, in the natural parks on a safari and we will visit the Orphanage created to assist the elephants found injured or orphans in the forests of this wonderful island which is Sri Lanka

1º giorno. Aeroporto Internazionale di Bandaranaike - Kurunegala - Sigiriya

(Approximate transfer time: 2 and a half hours)

Reception at the airport by our representative and transfer of about 2 hours and 30 minutes to the accommodation in Sigiriya

On the way we will stop at Lake Kurunegala to stretch ourselves with a walk and eat a snack

2nd day. Sigiriya - Sigiriya Rock - Safari Minneriya National Park - Visit to a rural local village - Sigiriya

(Approximate transfers time: 15/20 minutes)

In the morning we will go up to Sigiriya fortress

This huge magma rock hides the ruins of noble buildings and a breathtaking view on the top

We will pass through the Lions Gate and admire the state of conservation of the frescoes on the walls of the cave

In the afternoon mounted on a four wheel drive, we will participate to this amusing Safari,

famous for the large herds of elephants that inhabit it.

Sometimes you can admire up to 300 elephant specimens

Afterwards we will make an excursion starting by canoe on a lake, then with a small transfer by tuk-tuk and finally mounted on an ox cart to reach a typical rural village

3rd day. Sigiriya - Dambulla Golden Temple - Spice Garden - Matale Hindu Temple -
City of Kandy

(1 hour approximately between the different transfers)

In the morning we will visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla

This complex of caves converted into a temple where inside we will encounter a rich decoration of statues and frescoes on the life of Buddha, of ancient Sinhalese kings and of Hindu Sinhalese deities still revered today with flowers, incense and oil lamps ...

On the way to Kandy we will visit a Spice Garden

On this visit we will learn about the plants and trees with which the different spices are produced and we will discover their use in cooking and in the ancient natural medicine of Ayurveda

Then we will make a short visit to the Sri Muthumariamman Hindu Temple in Matale (1852), built for workers in tea plantations, who came from southern India

We will walk around the lake surrounding the Temple of the Tooth and visit the typical market and traditional shops of the city

4th day. Kandy - Pinnawala elephant orphanage - Peradeniya Royal Gardens - Kandy

Kandy - Pinnawala: approximatly transfer 1 hr and a half)

In the morning we will go to the Elephant Orphanage created by the Government of Sri Lanka to welcome the orphaned or injured puppies encountered in the forest

The Peradeniya Botanical Garden or also called Royal Garden has its origins in the 14th century.

This vast expanse of trees and plants is one of the best travel sites in Sri Lanka.

We will admire the centuries-old trees and palm trees with the strangest shapes, Ayurvedic plants and the famous collection of orchids.

This vast area of 60 hectares is a place of relaxation and recreation for the Sinhalese where they come to stroll and spend the day with family, boyfriends or friends.

5º giorno. Kandy - Buddha Tooth Relic Temple - Kandy city Tour

We will visit the Sri Dalada Maligawa Temple or called Temple of the Tooth, where the canine belonging to Buddha is kept

We will walk around the lake surrounding the Temple of the Tooth and visit the typical market and traditional shops of the city

6th day. Kandy - Ramboda waterfalls - Tea factory - Nuwara Eliya - Train from Nanu Oya to Ella - Ella

(Kandy - Nuwara Eliya: about 2 hours, train to Ella about 3 hours)

On the way to Nuwara Eliya we will visit the Ramboda waterfalls and a tea factory

Reached the station of Nanu Oya, a few minutes from Nuwara Eliya (8 km), we will board the train carriage in Ella.

7th day. Ella - Safari Yala National Park - Yala

(transfer by car about 1 hour)

Welcome to Sri Lanka's favorite hill country village!

She is a blissfully relaxing place nestled in the valley at around 3500 feet high; it is surrounded by mountains covered with lush farmland and tea plantations.

We will participate in the Safari in the National Park mounted on a 4x4.

This huge expanse of land is divided into five blocks, which protect the habitat that goes from the bush to the lake areas near the sea.

8th day. Yala - Turtle nursery - Galle Fort - Unawatuna

(Yala - Unawatuna : approximate transfer of 3 and a half hours)

We will visit a nursery for the conservation of turtles

Galle is the third most important city after Colombo and Kandy.

It was a Portuguese city in the 16th century and a Dutch city in the 18th century, the British also lived in the 19th and 20th centuries.

All these colonizers left an imprint, which is why it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

8th day. Unawatuna - Safari Madu Ganga river - Unawatuna beach

(Unawatuna - Madu Ganga : transfer about 40 minutes

We will participate, mounted in a boat, to an escursion on the Madu Ganga river immersed in tropical vegetation

10th day. Unawatuna - Bandaranaike International Airport

(Unawatuna - Aeroporto : about 1 and a half hours)
