1st Day. Colombo – Kandy

Reception at Colombo International Airport by our guide and transfer to Kandy.

In the afternoon we will walk through the capital of the mountains, admire the colonial style buildings and take a walk around the lake surrounding the Buddha Tooth Temple. This being the main religious centre of the Buddhists, which we will then visit.

2nd Day. Kandy – Elephant Orphanage – Botanical Garden – Kandy

After breakfast we leave for Pinnawela, visit to the Elephants Orphanage created by the Government of Sri Lanka to welcome orphaned or injured calves encountered in the forest. It is the largest reserve of elephants in captivity in the world. The afternoon will be dedicated in getting to know the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.

This immense garden of 59 hectares houses vegetation from all over the world and it is of extraordinary beauty.

3rd Day. Kandy – Temples – Traditional dance – Kandy

In the morning we will follow with a visit to the old times of the region, getting to know the times of the XIV century of Godaladeniya, encompassing a visit to

Lankatileka, and Ambakka, a temple built entirely in wood. In the afternoon a panoramic walk to the capital of the mountains follow by a typical Kandy traditional dance show.

4th Day. Kandy – Ramboda Falls – Nuwara Eliya

On the way to the mountain station of Nuwara Eliya (1868 mt.) we will admire the extensive tea plantations; we will visit the Ramboda waterfalls and learn how to produce tea in the production plant.

In the afternoon we will take a tour in Nuwara Eliya to learn about the buildings with the British influence.

5th Day. Nuwara Eliya – Bandarawela –  Horton Plains – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast we will go to the Horton Plains National Park. This park offers the possibility of accessing the famous “end of the world” and the Baker waterfalls with an easy trek.

Then we will visit the location of Bandarawela and surroundings.

6th Day. Nuwara Eliya – Ella – Yala’s National Reserve

Breakfast and visit to the Ella and Ravana Falls waterfalls.

In the afternoon we will enter the Yala National Reserve for a safari. Among the fauna you can admire elephants, peacocks, deer, jackals, pelicans, crocodiles, wild boars and a multitude of birds. With a little luck we can also see the elusive leopards.

7th Day. Yala – Kataragama – Weligama’s beach

In the morning we will head to Kataragama. The temple of Kataragama is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus, Buddhists, Vedas and Muslims.

After lunch we will move to Weligama, a coastal town known for its famous “fishermen”.

8th Day. Weligama’s beach – Galle – Weligama’s beach

We will move to the Galle Fortress and pass through this small fortified town that in its day was a home for the Portuguese, Dutch and British who left a strong architectural influence.
