Daily Itinerary
Meet and greet at Bandaranaike International Airport by driver-guide and transfer to Sigiriya. Visit Ritigala reserve containing ruins of an ancient temple from the 1st century BC. This mountain, 766 metres above sea level, is believed to contain sacred and healing herbs.

Visit Mihintale, the cradle of Buddhism where Buddhism entered Sri Lanka in 237 BC. See ruins of ancient monastery that housed up to 3,000 monks. Visit the 14-meter high Buddha of Aukana, carved directly into rock in 5th century. Explore Kala Wewa reservoir built by King Dhatusena with over 65 km circumference.

Climb the famous Sigiriya Rock, a 360-meter high rectangular rock housing ancient palace ruins at its peak - considered one of the 8 wonders of the ancient world. Visit Dambulla Golden Temple with 153 Buddha statues, Sri Lankan Kings statues, and Hindu gods and goddesses, plus magnificent murals covering ceiling and walls.

Explore Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's second capital (10th-13th century), a UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving ancient buildings and temples. Afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for large herds of elephants - an amazing spectacle to see so many elephants together.

Stop in Matale to discover secrets of a Spice Garden - see plants and trees from which different spices are obtained. Transfer to Kandy, the capital of mountains and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Lankatileka and Ambakke temples, especially unique Ambakke built entirely of wood (14th century).

Visit Temple of the Tooth housing Buddha's tooth relic - whoever possessed it held power in ancient times. Journey through tea plantations, see Ramboda waterfalls, visit tea factory to learn Ceylon tea processing. Take the amazing 3-hour train ride through tea hills from Nuwara Eliya to Ella on railway network operating since 1864.

Stop at scenic Ravana waterfalls on the way to Yala. Safari in Yala National Park, home to the largest concentration of leopards in the world as they have no predators. See elephants, crocodiles, buffalos, black bears and many more animals in their natural habitat.

Explore Galle Fort, the best preserved colonial historical centre in the country and undoubtedly the most beautiful city in Sri Lanka. Stroll under shade of trees or by the sea, visit cafes, restaurants and shops. Rest of day free to enjoy Hikkaduwa beach.

If time permits before airport transfer, take a retrospective tour of the capital. See emblematic places such as Independence Square, Galle Face Promenade and colonial area of Colombo Fort. Transfer to airport - be there 3 hours before flight departure.
