1st Day. Colombo – Habarana

Reception at Colombo International Airport by our team and transfer to Habarana. Arrival at noon at the hotel. Afternoon and evening free to recuperate energy from the long journey.

2nd day. Habarana – Polonnaruwa – Minneriya National Park – Habarana

We will visit an ancient capital of the country, Polonnaruwa (XI-XIII). We will see various monuments of architectural style of Indian influence which have been very well preserved and Buddha sculptures carved from one piece of granite.

In the afternoon we will explore the National Park of Minneriya    habitat of a large number of elephants, monkeys, grayling birds, crocodiles, labi bears, deers, bird varieties, leopards and so many others.

3rd day. Habarana – Sigiriya – Dambulla – Habarana

Day dedicated to Sigiriya (s.V BC). This huge magma rock was built as a fortress and a palace. We will pass through the Lion’s Gate and admire the state of conservation of the frescoes on the walls of the rock. In the afternoon we will visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla (1st century AD). This Caves’s complex which has been converted into a temple contains a rich decoration inside. Starting with the statues and frescoes on the life of Buddha and ancient Sri Lankan kings and Hindu gods.

4th day. Habarana – Spice Garden – Kandy

On our way to Kandy we will visit a Spice Garden. Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhalese kings, has much British influence.

Therefore, we will see colonial style buildings and take advantage of a walk around the lake that surrounds the Buddha Tooth Temple, the main Buddhist religious centre and where one of the most important relics of Buddhism is preserved: the left canine of Buddha.

Then on to enjoy a typical local dance show.

5th day. Kandy – Elephant Orphanage – Botanical Garden

Early in the morning we will visit the elephants’ orphanage of Pinnawela. We will see how they bathe in the river and how they are fed. This Orphanage is the largest reserve of elephants in captivity in the world. In the afternoon we will walk through the extraordinary Peradeniya Botanical Garden: this ancient garden brings together in its 59 hectares trees, flowers and vegetation from all over the world.

6th day. Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

We will leave in the morning for the Nuwara Eliya mountain station (1868 mt); on the way we will observe the taped mountains of tea plantations. We will stop at the Ramboda waterfalls and visit a tea factory. In the afternoon we will tour the city to learn about buildings with British influence.

7th day. Nuwara Eliya – Bentota’s Beach

After breakfast we will go to the chosen hotel in Bentota beach on the southeast coast of the country.

8th day. Bentota’s Beach

Free day.

9th day. Bentota – Airport

Transfer to the airport.
